It Won’t Convince Andy
In our home, we have never emphasized Santa Claus much, as the birth of Christ is the thing that motivates our hearts in this season, but today I read a post about the real Saint Nicholas and recent attempts to forensically reconstruct his face from his skull. It was pretty cool, and it will be fun to share the story of this man with Andy and Emily. For what it’s worth, Andy was telling his friends at 5 that Santa Claus was a fake, even though to our knowledge he had never heard that from us. We just didn’t bring him up.

We were just at the mall this morning (I know… horrible experience), and Jack saw all of the little kids lining up and sitting on “Santa’s” lap for photos. We asked him who he thought that was, and he said, “It’s Santa! … PRETEND Santa.” That’s my boy.
How funny! Zoee is totally into the Santa thing. We haven’t emphasized it more than anything else, but she is very convinced that Santa will leave her some things in her stocking!
Maybe its an individual personality thing. Hopefully, Andy won’t break his cousin’s heart by loudly declaring that Santa is a fake. He’s already done this a few times for others to the dismay of the parents of these children who suddenly find themselves consoling a crying child.
I understand Andy doing that. I never believed in Santa as a child. Hopefully Zoee’s wonderful uncle will remind her older cousin that little kids believe in Santa and it’s fun to pretend.
We love hearing Andy stories!!
We are looking forward to seeing all of you on Christmas!
