A Month to Get the Essentials

Published by gchastain at 10:02 am under Adoption, Emily

I meant to post something yesterday, but actually got a bit busy and didn’t get it done. Two days ago was the one month anniversary from when we first saw Emily, and welcomed her into our life. And I can honestly say it’s been a wonderful thing. While we’ve had some difficulties (who would of thought two kids was twice the work!), we’ve had more moments of laughter and joy. This little girl is a vibrant, chatty, giggly little girl who seems to like to make people laugh, and easily laughs at herself. She’s had some quiet emotional times, and we can only wonder what she is thinking in the midst of all the dramatic changes of her life. Andy and Emily have mostly gotten along well, and Andy is slowly adjusting to the addition of another child in the home.

So anyway, in the last month we had a visit with our doctors here, and Emily appears to be healthy and well. As most have noted, the cleft lip was repaired well, and there are no heart murmurs as the docs listen to her repaired heart. She got a great report, even as she sadly endured a few shots to get her up to date on U.S. vaccinations. We also had a visit from my mom, brother, Aunt Jackie, and cousins Alisha and Hannah. It was great seeing all of them, and Emily bonded well with my mom. Our church blessed us with a great potluck/shower, and we were reminded what a special body of believers the Lord has landed us in.

All in all its been a great month! Essentials like visiting family, doctors visits, and daily routines have been set. Oh, and choosing the right baseball team too.
