Travel Approval Received

Published by gchastain at 11:13 am under Adoption, Emily

We got our Travel Approval today, and should be traveling to China to pick up Emily from September 3-16. We are still waiting on an appointment request at the US consulate in Guangzhou, but should hear on this within the next 1-3 days.

The next week or so will obviously be a whirl wind, but we can’t wait to bring Emily home.

    Hey Gregg & Karen,

I’m so excited for you – Not much time to prepare, but I know you’ll be ready! I will be praying for you while I’m sitting around at the hospital. Yup, Don is in again. He had an episode of racing heart & passing out on Thursday the 20th. Ambulance, Adventist, another ambulance, Providence, CICU, angiogram, echocardiograms, etc…. Found the aneurysm on his heart has gotten dramatically larger and is at great risk of rupture. (no explanation as to why this happened – they don’t know.) They are going to do the big,bad “rebuild his heart” surgery they didn’t want to have to do. Surgery will be tomorrow (27th) and will last all day, as long as things go well. If you think of it, please be praying. (like you don’t have other things on your mind!) If you will e-mail me at bpg4christ@yahoo.com I will put you on the update distribution list so if you have a chance to check your e-mail over there, you can see how things are going. Sorry I didn’t contact you sooner, I have been so frazzled this week. It took a good 48 hours just to adjust to the reality of this situation – I should say TRY to adjust. It is so bizarre because he feels and looks healthy as a horse!

Please pray that the surgeons would be well rested, healthy, focused, and not distracted by any turmoil in their personal worlds. Please pray for Don that he will have peace and joy and that God will be glorified in his life. If things go well, he will be in good shape when he gets healed up. If things go bad, he will either be on the transplant list with high priority or just gone. When you talk to the surgeon and several times he uses the phrase “if you survive this” it kinda makes ya shake a little, you know? Please pray for me that I will “be of good courage” and not allow Satan’s fear & anxiety attacks to get me.

I wish you safe travels, good health, and a HUGE moment of joy and peace when you get to see your daughter!! I will be praying God will work out all the details and just go before you easing the way. I will be praying for Andy, too, that this will be a happy time for him and he will be able to fully open his arms to Emily and be ready to share his world.

Can’t wait to hear about your journey!!

    Love to all,

    Brenda
