We got Andy’s report card yesterday, and he did quite well for his kindergarten year. All Y’s and P’s (Yes! & Practicing) – kind of like the S’s and I’s (Satisfactory & Improving) I got long ago. We’ve known for a while that he is recognizing a bunch of words on his own, but he has been reluctant to demonstrate that skill and read on his own. One of the mom’s at church told us about the “Bob Books“, and raved about them as a great reading resource, and we thought in our heads – “Bob Books”?, but dutifully went and grabbed a few at the library. So yesterday night, having read one Bob book to Andy, the boy gave it a try on his own and did great.

It’s a cool thing listening as he reads, and he seems pretty excited by the whole thing too – He’s carrying the Bob Books all through the house, and I caught him reading them first thing this morning after he woke up.
