The Light at the End of the Paperchase Tunnel
It has been such a long process – in part because we lost 10 months with the job change and move to Sandy – but we are seeing the light at the end of the paperchase. This afternoon, we mailed all of our adoption documents to the Chinese Consulates in Houston, and San Francisco for the final authentications they will need. It was really scary to put all of these originals in a UPS envelope, especially when I think of all the work it took to get them.
When the documents are returned to us, we will put them together into our final dossier, and ship them off to America World (our adoption agency) where they will be forwarded to China, and the Center for Adoption Affairs there. Once they arrive, we simply wait for a log in date which let’s us know we’ve been accepted by China, and are in their system. We will then be added to the list of families waiting for a referral. Right now the wait is almost two years . . . sigh. Once the referral comes we will be sent a picture of our little girl, along with some relevant health information, and we will begin to make plans for traveling to China within a month or so.
Your prayers are always appreciated. Most immediately, Karen and I are praying for the funds to cover our next big fee. When we send our dossier to America World we need to include about $3000 in fees. We are not sure yet where that’s coming from exactly, but have been amazed how the Lord has faithfully provided every step along the way. We are waiting to hear on a grant we applied for, and trust that we will again find ourselves marveling at the Lord’s handiwork.

[...] I mentioned in an earlier post (The Light at the End of the Paperchase Tunnel), that we were nearing the end of the long document collecting process, and were thinking and praying through the next step in our adoption process. That step included sending our final dossier to our adoption agency, along with almost $3000 to cover our next agency payment, translation fees, and a post placement deposit fee. Truth be told we had no idea where that was coming from, and knew we would simply need to prayerfully wait on the Lord.
